If you’ve ever wondered what hit Netflix this week, or needed to quickly filter down to just documentaries or English-language titles, we’ve got good news: our What’s New on Netflix page just got a full overhaul, and it’s designed to make discovering new releases faster and easier than ever.
We’ve been tracking the new releases on Netflix for over a decade and beginning in the late 2010s, we’ve been building up our database of new releases and adding functionality and new details about titles over time, but our what’s new page has always been stuck in time for quite some time, and now, finally, we’re launching a big overhaul.
What Is the What’s New on Netflix Page?
The What’s New on Netflix page is your one-stop hub for all new movies, series, documentaries, and specials added to Netflix (US). Instead of scrolling through the app or digging through multiple articles, you get the full catalog in one place — organized by date and packed with the details that help you decide what to watch next.
What’s New in This Update
Daily Summaries at a Glance
We’ve added a quick breakdown for each release date. You’ll now see lines like “8 New Releases: 5 Movies and 3 TV Series” right under the date, so you can instantly see how many titles dropped that day and how they split between movies and series.
Smarter Search
The search bar now looks across titles, descriptions, directors, and cast. Looking for everything with your favourite actor or director? Just type their name and go.
Powerful Filters
Narrow down the catalog with filters for:
Language (e.g. English only)
Type (Movies or Series)
Content tags: Documentary, Anime, Stand-up, Reality, Kids
Netflix Originals only
Our must-watch picks
Titles blocked on the ad-supported tier
Titles that are “Back on Netflix” (returns to the catalog)
“Last Seen / New Seasons” for Returning Titles
When a movie or series comes back to Netflix after leaving, we now show a “Last seen” banner with how long it’s been gone — e.g., “Last seen” with “2 years, 3 months ago” underneath. It’s a small touch that makes it easy to spot what’s been on Netflix. Likewise, this functionality also lets you see new seasons of returning shows too!
Dark and Light Modes
You can switch between a dark theme (great for late-night browsing) and a light theme. Your choice is remembered for your next visit.
Weekly Recaps Carousel
At the top of the page, you’ll find our Weekly Recaps carousel — quick links to our recap articles so you can jump straight to the written summaries when you want more context.
Stats at a Glance
A stats bar shows you totals for this week, this month, and this year, plus how many Movies, Series, and Originals have been added so far this year. All of it updates as you filter.
Faster Loading
We’ve redesigned how the page loads its data. The layout and filters appear first, with the title list loading in the background. That means a quicker initial load and a smoother experience, especially on slower connections.
How to Use It
Head to our What’s New on Netflix category and start browsing. Use the search and filters to narrow things down, or scroll through the daily groupings to see what’s new each day. Click “Trailer” on any title card to watch the preview in a pop-up, or use “Watch on Netflix” to jump straight to the title on Netflix.
Blast to the Past
Our New on Netflix section has come a LONG way in the last 10 years. Here’s what it looked like a decade ago from today.
