‘Granny’ Netflix K-Drama Comedy Webtoon Adaptation: Everything We Know So Far
Netflix is adapting the Korean webtoon Granny into a brand new K-drama starring Lee Jung Eun and Kim Mu Yeol.

Lee Jung Eun and Kim Mu Yeol will star as the leads in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of the Korean webtoon, Granny. Details are limited, but we expect filming to get underway in the coming months. Here’s everything we know so far about Granny on Netflix.
Granny is an upcoming South Korean Netflix Original action-thriller directed by Han Dong Wook and is based on the webtoon Granny (할매) by author Jae Hu. The series will be produced in a collaboration between Sanae Pictures and Studio Dragon.
What is the plot of Granny?
The synopsis has been sourced from the manga:
“Jung Suk Ja’s grandson, Kwon Yong Hui, is her entire world. But everything comes crashing down after he ends up in a coma. The culprits behind it, the infamous Black Star Mob, are set free despite all evidence. Then one day, two men suddenly appear in front of Mrs. Jung, telling her they will train her so she can enact revenge on her grandson’s assailants and take down the mob once and for all. Hesitant at first, she decides to work with them and begins to hunt down her prey one by one.”

Who are the cast members of Granny?
So far, the only two cast members attached to the project are Lee Jung Eun and Kim Mu Yeol.
Lee Jung Eun will play Jung Suk Ja. The actress has been one of the most prolific South Korean actors on the streaming service, starring in numerous Netflix projects. For Netflix, Lee Jung Eun has starred in Heavenly Ever After, The Trunk, The Frog, Daily Dose of Sunshine, Our Blues, Juvenile Justice, Law School, and many more.
Kim Mu Yeol will play Seo Yeon U. For Netflix, the actor has starred in seasons 2 and 3 of Sweet Home, and played a leading role in Juvenile Justice alongside co-star Lee Jung Eun. He also starred in supporting roles in Netflix films Ballerina and Space Sweepers.

What is the production status of Granny?

Currently, Granny is still in development, and it remains unclear exactly when filming will begin. With Kim Mu Yeol now cast, it will only be a matter of time before filming gets underway.
When is the Netflix release date for Granny?
There is no confirmed release date for Granny, and it will be a long time yet before we learn an official release date or even a release window.
Assuming filming gets underway soon and concludes before the end of the year, then it’s likely we’ll get a Netflix release sometime in the second half of 2027.
